Not Work Related is a Brooklyn-based ceramics studio run by architect turned ceramicist, Sarah Hussaini who combines her technical architectural background with the handmade nature of ceramics to create intricately patterned pieces that occupy a space between the handmade and digitally designed. Sarah started off her career at an architectural firm where, in her own words, “everyone wore dress pants and a suit jacket everyday, and everything was black and white”. NWR, her side project at the time, was the antithesis to everything that the corporate world stood for. “It was just for fun and I would draw from my learnings of architecture and design but wasn’t limited by any of it. I had this idea of an office that was completely neutral and stoic and this super vibrant cup on my desk that could be my little portal to escape.”
